biography

Jeanne was born in Noord-Brabant, where she also spent her childhood. She later lived and worked in Flevoland and has come to love the wide polder landscape with the horizon and geometric areas of color. Now she has been living happily in Maastricht for many years now.

The recurring inner urge to express herself through visual work and to also delve into art history, made her decide at the time to follow the training “Teacher Visual Arts and Design” at the Hogeschool Windesheim. She graduated in 2001 and then taught art history and painting classes. She currently focuses mainly on painting portraits. She paints these, commissioned, with oil on canvas. She tries to bring out the person's character and appearance. And of course she strives for a good likeness. “People must be happy with the result. They should be moved by it. "She paints her free work with acrylic and oil paint on paper and on canvas. She has also been busy with graphics. Her interest in architecture can often be found in the free work. She usually draws her inspiration from her travels to Syria, Lebanon, India, Malaysia and Singapore, among others. In New York, Washington, Paris and in many other cities, she became fascinated by architecture. The movement and the hectic nature of such cities intrigue her. She energizes and even makes her happy. Her work deals with various themes and subjects. These vary from realistic still lifes and landscapes to (almost) abstracted images. Jeanne tries to keep her paintings alive by using visible brush or palette knife. alternating strokes with flat painted forms. She is concerned with the feelings that the images on the canvas can evoke. Every action and every brushstroke is focused on it. ht, to make those feelings visible as well as possible.
